Experience after Postgraduation











2 years of residency in the Ophthalmology dept. at Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur


3 years of senior residency (including 2 years as DNB Tutor) at Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi



During Residency, received training and also conducted emergency and elective cases pertaining to






































    • Cataract Surgery: I performed more than 1000 Extra-capsular cataract extractions with posterior chamber in-the-bag IOL implantation. I performed more than 2000 manual small incision cataract surgeries. I performed about  500 Phaco-emulsification with PCIOL procedures.
    • Glaucoma filtration surgeries: I performed about 15 filtering surgeries, some being combined with cataract extraction.
    • Pterygium: Performed more than 500 pterygium surgeries using conjunctival autografts as well as amniotic membrane grafts.
    • Lacrimal sac surgeries: Performed more than 100 Dacryocystorhinostomy procedures as well as more than 100 Dacryocystectomies.
    • Trauma: Operated on a variety of penetrating injuries in emergency as well as during routine hours.
    • Other procedures: including performing a large number of Chalazion incision & curettage, Cyclo-cryo therapy, entropion and ectropion correction surgeries, paracentesis, YAG laser iridotomies and capsulotomies, Enucleation, Evisceration etc.

Presented a case of ‘Low-flow Carotico-cavernous fistula’ at the joint conference of the South Asian Academy of Ophthalmology and the 3rd Indian AMD Congress at New Delhi. (2008)


‘Cavernous sinus inflammatory syndrome’





Presented a case of ‘Cavernous sinus inflammatory syndrome’ at the Clinical meet organized by the ‘Nagpur Academy of Ophthalmology’ at Nagpur, India. (2005)

Besides this my fellowship in orbit & oculoplastics also imparts training pertaining to ocular oncology & ocular prosthesis.

I have the experience of having worked as resident medical officer in Intensive care unit at Ketki research institute of medical sciences from 17/9/01 to 20/12/01 and also as R.M.O at ICU at Midas institute of gastro-enterology subsequently. I also worked for a while at a leading cancer hospital at New Delhi.














I intend to work as a Phaco & Oculoplasty surgeon having had immense training both as a phaco surgeon as well as a fellowship in Orbit & oculoplastics. My passion for the profession makes me keen to continue to learn & try to improve constantly. I intend to take courses to increase my contribution to the hospital.






































My experience in Government Medical College, Nagpur has given me insight of managing a variety of patients coming from a large drainage area. My training in GMC and at Venu Eye Institute, New Delhi has further strengthened my knowledge and expertise in all aspects of ophthalmology including the confidence to manage and run an eye hospital independently. I believe I have the entire essential and most of the advantageous person specific criteria for this post and have demonstrated these over my training. I am well motivated and a fast and enthusiastic learner. I am very conscious of the importance of Clinical Governance and keep meticulous notes.  I am dextrous and enjoy using my hands as well as my brains.  I have a sense of humour and enjoy working with people from all backgrounds.  I am responsible, organised and caring.  Although I have a variety of outside interests, I am enthusiastically committed to my work.
